Let’s take a few minutes and look through these.

Which ones do you know already?

Which ones are new.

REMEMBER: Capital letter at the beginning of a sentence. Period/fullstop or question mark at the end of the sentence.

SIMPLE PRESENT VERB TENSE

-have

I/We/They/You have two children

You have a computer.

have – eat

I eat/have breakfast everyday at 7:30.  ‘have’ is more natural than ‘eat’

We have lunch together every day.

We drink/have coffee every morning. ‘have’ is more natural than ‘drink’

We eat have/take medicine every morning.

Most Iranians drink/have tea.

every day, every morning, every night, every Monday, every week, every year

I have a birthday party every year.

HIGHER LEVEL We celebrate our wedding anniversary every year.

VOCAB anniversary- yearly celebration, for example wedding

Let’s practice writing some short sentences in simple present verb tense using the verbs ‘be’ and ‘have’. Write the sentence on your own paper.

I’ll come around and help. Work together. It’s more fun to work together- talking and helping each other.

Capital letters

-Use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence.

e.g.    Maria has a nice hat.

                     She has a nice cat.

-Proper nouns- names of people, countries, provinces, cities, streets, companies, brand name, months, days of the week

          e.g     It rains a lot in November.   a lot   a lot

                     My birthday is in August/May/September.

                     Boxing Day is December 26th. It is also her birthday.

                     Mei likes Gucci shoes.

I like shoes from Winners.

Nike/Adidas/Puma has good sportswear.

Joe and Shira are friends.

Maryam and Mohammad are married.

She is from Canada.

Mel was born in Mexico.  Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Syria, China, Indonesia, the US the USA the States America, Lebanon, Korea, Japan,

continents- Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Australia, Antarctica

Vancouver is a rainy city.

Mira visited Quebec.

Niagara Falls is in Ontario.

Nova Scotia is a very beautiful province.

Canada is the second largest/biggest country in the world.

The biggest country in the world is Russia.
