BASIC USAGE OF PAST PROGRESSIVE:

1.    interruption

Dora was watching a movie last night when the doorbell rang.

2.    two things happening simultaneously

simultaneously- at the same time

 

 

1.    interruption- useful word ‘when’

You were teaching when the student came in the classroom.

She was running when I saw her.

She saw an accident when she was driving home.

I was trying to get to sleep last night when my son came home.

I hurt my neck when I was doing gymnastics.

I was cooking when my mom called me.

My cat was jumping jumped on the table when I was talking on the phone.

When they were dancing, the music stopped.

2.    simultaneous- useful word ‘while’

NOTE: I was talking to my son. We were discussing his schoolday.
