EF12 Class 11 verbs with gerunds and infinitives

Verbs Followed by Infinitves or Gerunds

 

Types of verbs:

infinitive- “to go” “to eat” “to sleep”

gerund- “ing” noun   going   eating   sleeping

 

CHOICE

Jun likes to go to the mall.

Jun likes going to the mall.

Jun likes to going to the mall. XXX

She likes to walk her dog. She likes walking her dog.

I don’t like taking the bus everyday. I don’t like to take the bus everyday.

2.begin play

You began to play soccer when you were 12 years old.

IDIOM can’t stand- really dislike, almost hate, not as strong as ‘hate’

I can’t stand being late. I can’t stand to be late.
