EF34 15 class- paragraph review, adverb clauses

We will get started at 11:00.

A few things to remember:

-indent the first word

-doublespace

-write in pen

-one block of writing

-title above line

 

-one paragraph

-about 100 words

 

-sentences!!!

You have to express your ideas in sentences. Capitals and periods.

This is hard work, but we are doing it.

 

That was our first paragraph. We will probably four or five more paragraphs. We will have lots of practice.

 

When should we do our next paragraph?

adverb clauses

adverb modifies a verb, usually a ‘ly’ word

She sings beautifully. ‘beautifully’ talking about the verb ‘sings’

 

beautiful – adjective, desrcibes a noun  The woman is beautiful.

 

She smiles beautifully. adv

He smiled nervously.

Her smile is beautiful. adj

 

He walks slowly.

quickly

carefully- You drive your car carefully.

nervously-

He does his work seriously.

She did the math homework correctly.

 

goodly well  She speaks English very well.

 

The grandmother teaches her grandson how to tie his shoes.

**because- give a reason

She is tired today because she had insomnia/couldn’t sleep last night.

because/so – similar, different usage

 

Joe was hungry, so he ate a sandwich. COMPOUND
