EF12SL12 Class 19

I stayed home and watched anime. I ate hotpot with my sister.

I went walking with a friend.

My friend and I went shopping for a wedding dress.

I went GERUND ‘ing’.  He went skiing. She went swimming.

I saw a dance at the theatre.

I went to the Tamil people’s Christmas party at the hall in Vancouver yesterday.

Yesterday, I met my friend. She works at UBC. She is a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Verb tenses for EF 1/2

 

SIMPLE VERB TENSES

 

-simple present – usually, always, daily, habit, truth

He cleans his kitchen every Saturday morning.

She drinks green tea.

He likes dogs.

She lives in Kuwait.

He likes dogs. – area of focus- the subject and verb must agree, match

She lives in Canada.

 

-simple past- one time in the past- five minutes ago, last night, five years ago, 10000 years ago

He cleaned his kitchen last Saturday morning.

She lived in a small apartment in 1998.

She woke up at 7 o’clock in the morning yesterday.

Yesterday, I worked as a cashier for the second time.

Dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago.

 

**NOTE: Putting the time at the beginning or the end of the sentence helps to make the sentence clearer.

e.g Yesterday, we went to the park. We went to the park yesterday.

Our new verb tense for this week:

-simple future- one event in the future

-         timeline

-         five minutes in the future, ten years in the future

 

 

 

 

The easiest way to make simple future is to use the word ‘will’’

e.g.

Doris will go to Metrotown in five minutes.

Doris will eat dinner at six o’clock.

Doris will wash her clothes on Saturday morning.

Doris will visit her mother next week.

 

will go – doesn’t change

You/The cat/Mei/We/She will eat lunch.
