Male Relatives

-father- dad, parent

one parent, two parents

-your father’s father- your paternal grandfather

your mother’s father – your maternal grandfather

maternal(adj)- mother You have a baby in the maternity ward of the hospital.

-         bachelor- single man, usually young

-         widow- husband dies   She is a young widow. My mother and mother-in-law are both widows.

-         widower- wife dies  He is a widower.

 

Additional Vocabulary

-immediate family – parents and children, siblings

-extended family- aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, second cousins, etc.
