EF5Wr567 Class 19

 

Good afternoon, everyone.

 

We will get started at 12:00

Our fourth week is finished.

 

Our last day before Christmas Break is Friday, December 22nd.

Christmas Break- December 23-January 7th.

We come back to school on Monday, January 8th.

Registration for Quarter 3 (February-April) begins on Tuesday, January 9th. You can register for Quarter 3 starting on Tuesday, January 9th.

Last day of the course: Friday, January 26th

I do not know what I will be teaching in Q3.

When I know, I’ll tell you.

 

Interim recommendations:

I will give you midterm recommendations on Thursday, December 21st.

We can talk about what class you should take next.

EF5- stay in EF5, or go to EF6

Writing 567 - You still need to take EF5 or EF6.

 

The cutoff for early registration is 65%.

The final passmark is 50%.

If you have 50-64%, but you will have to a little while before you reg.

We want to give the strongest students first shot at registering.

 

Average mark:

Quizzes 1,2,3,4   Worth 6 pts each 4/6=4/6   

Tests 1,2,3,4        Worth 12 pts each  4/6=8/12

You register online using your computer.

I will teach you how to register using computer when we come back on Monday, January 8th.

 

You are allowed to take two courses per quarter at SHEC. They can be the same course. e.g. EF6 and EF6 , EF6 and Writing567

They must be different courses.

You can do a math assessment at SHEC. Ask in Room 203.

 

Self-paced learning- learning on computer, no teacher, Rm 203

Good for math, chemistry.

It’s not effective for learning a language.

 

 

The best way to learn a language is to do it socially.

 

Build networks- networking- loose contacts between people

 

At SHEC, we have academic advisors who can help you figure out what college or university program would be best for you.

Dan and I will play some music for the singalong.

On Wednesday, Dec. 20, 12-1 we can practice singing song Chriatmas songs in class.

I’ll print the lyrics.

We can go upstairs and sing with the group.
