“Correction Codes” I emailed these to you yesterday.

- art – article- a, an, the “Sarah ate apple .”
“Sarah ate an apple.”

-awk – awkward, not natural-sounding English- the writer is not familiar with English “My mother is help everyone person in the world .” awkward phrasing, sounds like a translation
“My mother is a person who is happy to help anyone that she meets.” authentic, natural-sounding
It is your responsibility to become more familiar with authentic, real, natural-sounding English. You can’t learn English by studying grammar.
“My home has been living in Vancouver of BC. ”
“I have been living in Vancouver, BC.”
“My home is in Vancouver, BC.”

-cap “i  live in v ancouver.”
“I live in Vancouver.”

Communication skills: I have some communication problems. I would like to talk in English like my native language. What will I have to do to improve my conversational skills?

Language is social. If you want to get better at English, you have to get and use it with other humans.
- playing sports, volleyball
- join a club, hiking group, photography group

My friends who have gotten good at English have done it through social interaction. An English class like this will not make you an English speaker.

Excuses:
1. It’s too hard.
2. I’m too old.
3. I don’t have any English friends.
4. I’m too shy.

Homework:
Have a good weekend. Force yourself to speak some English. Review the Correction Codes.
On Monday, we will start on simple sentences.
